what is the best knot for tying pole elastic to a swivel, many thanks john

Hi John. Are you thinking of using the swivel attached to elastic in your pole ? I have a nasty image of it flying back against the Carbon.

I'm guessing it's for elasticating a method feeder- personally I'd try and use a palomar knot- not that I've tried it as none of the fisheries down here allow elasticated methods.

If its for a method feeder or similar, Andy Findlay did a simple overhand knot. Need to make sure plenty of lubrication is used. I have been looking for the video he did, but so far cannot find it.

yes charie, its for the xsafe, replacing the elastic, and tying on a quick change hook link swivel

another vote for a simple overhand - well lubricated and pulled as tight as you can - you can actually fell it 'lock down' when pulled tight. If it frays when you pull it down, cut it off and try again.

unfortunately he is not using an elastcated feeder, the problem being is it is only a short 3" length of elastic in the feeder, an under full pressure it breaks at the knot, I wonder which knot guru uses?

Tri a Uni knot or as paul k suggested a Palomar Knot

                    Morning John
I don't tie a snap swivel onto the elastic i use one of the Drennan swivels ,just hook it through the ring on the end of the feeder job done .If i am changing the elastic i use a figure of eight note.

                        Hi John
Take a look on the Drennan website it's the safe swivel you need to look for , you don't need to tie it to the elastic.Just attach it to the ring that's already tied onto the x-safe stem.
                        ???
