    John wilson got thousands interested in fishing and will be greatly missed.
    a sad day for angling.

      Nice fella as well,met him in his shop while on holiday,gave me some local tips on venues.

      A true legend, his enthusiasm shone through, his TV programmes were the only ones worth watching, for me even the sea ones were interesting. R. I.P John

        Grew up watching his tv series. Very entertaining and a very good specimen angler. RIP John.

              Not many people Realise that John literally became an overnight household name & Celebrity Angler
              He didn't get into Tv until around 1986/7
              Before that he was a Barber ,for years & when he heard there was a Shop for sale he made his mind up to do what he had always
              dreamed Of . Own his own fishing tackle shop that was Early 70s i think he said !!
              He was mid 40s when he somehow ended up on TV he was a regular for 23yrs till he went to Thailand
              He was back in the Uk a couple of weeks ago making plans to buy a place by the Bure asap
              He was a great family man & a lovely bloke to work with
              R.I.P John you brought lots of people into Angling
              Today is a Very Sad day for Angling
