BSafe - A new Generation of fish safe nets, the future of keepnets?

The introduction of a new technology that will dramatically cut transfer of fish disease is the result of leading lights from British industry pulling together.
BSafe - short for 'bacteria safe - began life in the mind of avid angler Derek Willan, who believes that all anglers should be doing their bit to safeguard fish health in the UK.
Derek explained: "Virus outbreaks were getting all the press but research revealed that the bigger killers were a relatively small group of bacteria which the Environment Agency confirmed were present in the majority of fish mortalities they attended in 2013.

    “It has been proven...

    British Guyana Exploratory trip

Before I start this, I stress that this has nothing to do with our fishing/outfitting company and is a completely non-profit making venture. This is just to give anyone who wants to come along a chance at what should be a very reasonably-priced trip and to be involved in something different in the fishing world from the Guinea Pig stage upwards, other than our normal Peacock Bass trips. A good friend of mine in Brazil was brought up in British Guyana and he lived and worked with the Indians there for many years. He has just asked me to join up with him and see if I could help in mounting a fishing expedition in early-mid February and mid March n...

Pole Sections and Spares section - please read

I have renamed this part of the forum as at 17th November 2011 so that we can have a dedicated section for people to post up any spare pole sections that they have for sale - these need their own section as too often people are bumping their pole spares to the top of the main tackle for sale section.

This way everyone can help others out by listing any spares that they have available and hopefully this section will become a resource for those people who break their poles.

  • Promoting Articles from the Forums
    Oneabung
One of the innovative new features on vBulletin 4.0 Publishing Suite is the cross-publishing "Promote to Article" functionality.

In the spirit of promoting content discovery, we wanted to create features that will allow content to flow between Forums, Blogs, and Articles. For example, there might be a really popular post in the forums, but unfortunately it is buried inside page 13 of a thread. We will now have an option (if you have permissions) to "promote" a forum (or blog) post as a new article on the homepage.

    Here's how it works:
1: Users with permissions to publish a forum...

    Oneabung
The Angling Trades Association has welcomed the recent, successful House of Commons Debate on Bass, secured by Scott Mann (Conservative MP for North Cornwall and a sea angler). The motion stated: ‘that this House believes that the recent EU restrictions on recreational sea bass fishing are unfair and fail to address the real threat to the future viability of UK sea bass stocks; and calls on the Government to make representations within the Council of the EU on the reconsideration of the imposition of those restrictions’. Now put your hand on your heart and ask yourself – did you really do your best as members of the angling tra...
