    Default Paste

    Hi All

What's the best size of pellet to use to make paste?

I know the method to make them

The size does not matter, all that you are doing is wetting the pellet and mushing them up to form the paste, it will obviously take longer for a 8mm pellet to break down than a 2mm pellet.

Hi Mark - you say you've never used paste before, so I'd get a bag of Sonubaits green betaiane groundbait, I think that's the one where you get a FREE Paste Pot in the bag.

Worth it if only to get the pot for Now't!!

However I mix my paste so I don't actually need to use the pot - I mix it so stiff that I can lower it in 'cos I only have a Margin pole.

I find I can lower the paste in & out 2 or 3 times before it comes off!! - Not for the Paste Purist - but it works for Me!!

Mixing 1 to 1 is far too sloppy though for the way I fish it - I add the water gradually so it's very stiff - Like Putty!!

You can Freeze any unused paste for another session. It's just as good 2nd time around!

I often hook a grain of sweetcorn first then mold the paste around, so if the paste comes off - I'm still fishing.

(It's called a "Conker" as I've been told on here!!)
