A good weight for you but a very disappointing turn out, was this fished as a pleasure session.
I have an incidental on my left shoulder, he's always there, he's my friend.
He says he gives me good advice. does he ?

Yes I was surprised the other 2 anglers didnt bag up too-we fished it as a match, makes it more interesting- yes its very dissapointing--cant really understand why folks wont turn up. you always get plenty of bites on the venue, whatever section you fish-there are fish all the way through the river. from well above Wainfleet right through to a few miles below. -- a few go to Tydd on a wednesday, where if you arent drawn in the right place, about 3 good pegs- you can go without a bite all day.

We are hoping to run a match on Thursday this week rather than Weds, same time and place.

Wednesday Dec. 20th Dovecote 5 fished
1st equal peg 2 Derek Skinner whip and punch
peg 4 Alec Rawlings 4lb 4oz pole and Punch
3rd peg 3 Mark Cook 4lb 1oz pole and pinkie
4th peg 1 Brain Blackamore 3lb 14oz worm and pinkie pole
    5th peg 5 Nathan Watson 3lb 1oz
The conditions looked good but the fish didnt want to play, Alec was the first to catch after about an hr, and caught steady all day, but his fish were on the small side
Derek was on the verge of calling it a day after 2hrs when he got his first bite, and caught odd fish till the last 1/2hr when he had his best spell of the match,
Mark started to catch just after Derek, and caught steady fishing across on the long pole.

There will be no matches this weekend --with the next match being run on Thursday 28th Dec.

I am hoping to run a match on New Years day Monday 1st Jan--same place and times as usual. the river has been high and coloured since weds--but after looking at it today it should be fishable -it only takes a good 24 hrs to go down to fishable levels.

Monday January 1st fished at Crows Bridge
1st peg 2 Nathan Watson 8lb 14oz pole and pinkie and maggot
2nd peg 1 Kev Hutchinson 6lb pole and maggot
3rd peg 4 Derek Skinner 3lb 2oz whip and punch
4th peg 3 Luke Hutchinson 2lb 14oz pole and maggot
    5th peg 5 Andrew ( Beany) Sawyer 1lb 2oz
    6th peg 6 Damon Dickinson 12oz
It was always going to be a difficult match with the river still running off hard-and coloured (it went down 6" by the end of the match)
and it was the 2 downstream end pegs that seemed to have the fish shoaled up in them, and pinkies and maggot was always going to be the bait on the day, Kev started well but slowed the last 2 hrs and Nathan took advantage, with what was a cracking weight in the conditions
Derek managed to pip Luke for 3rd -with a run of half a dozen fish in the last 15 mins. when the flow slowed slightly.

I may run a match on thursday if I can get enough interest.
