I use this for all things fishing, and all things not !
Zap a Gap fishing glue
I have noticed a massive amount of Pole Float bodies and all materials needed to build your own pole floats on ebay (and other sites)
Im thinking of making some up myself for my own use, as like most anglers im fed up of "off the shelf" models, breaking, cutting, sinking etc etc
What i would like to know from you Float Makers out there is the following.
** What type of glue do you use to fix the float together (does the glue work with both Balsa & Foam bodies)
** What type of paint finishes do you use on Foam & Balsa bodies, do you varnish the finished painted float etc..... names / types of paint & varnishes would be great.
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT, PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS THREAD OR P.M ANY INFO.
LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR VIEWS

i use normal super glue for glueing stems and tips together and the bodies to the stem/tip assy (yes water can break down normal super glue, but the water doesnt get anyhwre near the glue as its all sealed up) and you need to be quick when setting everything as super glue grabs quickly
When i've shaped the body use a coat of sanding sealer - use an acrylic paint for colour - and ronseal diamond hard floor varnish to finsih (i use the matt finish as i dont like shiny floats, but thats just me)
I've never used foam, but you need to be carefull that the glue doesnt melt the foam - may have to use a araldite type glue for foam?
UHU glue works for me, then cellulose dope to seal everything up. Doesnt matter what paint you use really, best is to use none at all - i dont bother half the time. Hard varnish or yacht varnish to finish off. This thread should be called "Float gluers" by the way!!!
A proper float maker turns his own bodies!!
