Thats a good deal John. I hope this one is the one for you. I was like that with rods swaping and changing, then i bought a dave harrell st and it was what i always after in a rod. The fox boxes are very robust and durable, And good looking too, so you'll have a box there that will last you years mate.
  2. David, I have bought it. Its an old Fox competition that has only been used a handfull of times then the guy moved onto carping. Its designed on the old Boss box with improvements, for example the wheels have evo tyres with ball bearing races and clip straight onto the legs. proper pole rests & attachments & is in really good condition. Paid £137, he was hoping to get nearer £200 & I have sold my Boss on fleabay for £115 its being picked up Saturday. so all in all its cost me an extra £22. cheers John

John Which new Box are you getting? You sold your matchbox didnt you?

0-0 was fair result in the game last weekend. both teams had players missing, for a 0-0 it was a enjoyable game. I dont think anyone can win the title off you this year. Chelsea will cruise it.

Shame the weather is getting worse, It will be Blood and Joker weather for fishing on the canal soon. time to get those size 24 hooks and 00.6mm bottoms rigs setup.

It's a dream pole John, It really is , Silky smooth even in the rain it doesnt stick, It just slides through the hands like a dream, It weighs nothing at 14mtrs, I haven't had it further out yet to 16.5mtrs, But i do intend to very soon when im not so busy. On a far bank no4 caster elastic the feeling when playing the fish on that pole is incredible, it's so light but unbelievably stiff. I can't knock it in any way. Its superb mate.

Good luck in your up coming match John, Top anglers like yoursef always remember more than they have forgotten.

Hello John I had noticed BOYAKA hadn't posted anything for a long time, (Interesting!)

Im hopefully getting the pole soon, The money has been there waiting for a long time, But im waiting for something to be sorted out Drennan's end.

4lb 2oz is still more enjoyable from a river or canal, Than having 100lb from a commercial in my opinion, . I fished 100yards below three pigeons lock last saturday, and had 10lb 4oz. My dad has always said that was a poor area back when it was pegged in matches, But it always produces good weights for me around there. I fancied my chances of getting 15lb+ but the boat traffic was non-stop, And i had 1 or 2 towards the end who literally spolied my hard work building my 3 lines up for 4 hours. I did have a nice bonus far bank 2lb 5oz perch.

Did you get your new drennan pole? And how are you finding it?

Hello John, No thats not there anymore. Roger Young at maggots end went out of business early this year aswell, It's a shame because he was a lovely bloke, Thats where i went for 3 years, And it's difficult now as he sold the best bait by far in the area!

I use Fat phils or RS baits now, I usually Flick between the two to get most of the things that i use. Acorn angling is to far up the road from me otherwise i hear thats the place to go?

Im not totally sure John, will be one of the 3 matches in august. i'll try and find out and let you know. My dad's working with him at the moment so all the information is with them.
  8. David, got the Boss box & one of the forums members is picking up the matchbox on Monday morning hes got a bargain for £85. I have had several Boss boxes over the years & they suit me. In fact I had the 1st boss ever made Barry Watt who manufactured them gave me it as I was fishing a winter league semi at Holme Pierpoint near Nottingham.at that time the ASI ruled supreme however Barry reckoned he sold 20 plus boxes from its 1st appearance & he also gave me a couple of compacts over the years. Its as you say the older top end tackle was quality & some of the gear now is much cheaper but is tat. having said that I have to say the TDX is the best feeder reel I have ever used. I am forcing myself to wind the reel with my left hand, though its hard but its good therapy. anyway good luck with the conny whip search but think about the 10m pro & the options that could offer you for the type of fishing you do. what day is Paul fishing I might try & get up there. cheers John

The canal at wolvercote is still the best place to go on the oxford canal for a decent bag of fish.

I had 8lb+ down roundham lock last monday, 5-6lb on the 3m whip, with pinkie. couple of decent perch on the chop and caster line. It's almost void of roach down there. 1 or 2, but mostly bleak, gudgeon, perch, and chublets, and the odd ruffe. Always trying new things down there to see if i can get through to the roach, im sure there there, And that's what takes me back. Always trying to better what i've done.

The thames is picking up now, my dad was chatting to paul glenfield who won a match pegged below the lock at medley, fishing 5mtr pole line, and had 20lb to win the match. He's fishing at evesham this year, as a former winner he's always invited back, so me and my dad will go up there and watch him. Take care John, keep us updated on your match fishing always enjoy reading how your doing.

John, i wouldn't take yours off you mate. I'll sit tight and wait for 1 or 2 to crop up on ebay, the regularly come up and sell for anything upto £150. Im happy with my harriers at the moment, they cost my dad £120 when he bought them brand new, And still sell upto £75, Can get 1 for £40 if your lucky and if the seller doesn't advertise it well, The tournys are just to expensive for me, Im saving up £2000 for a drennan zircon pole, Nearly there... , But im a lover of old tackle, they dont make rods or whips like my harrell match rods or my harrier whips today, The market has changed it only caters for commercials now, Real quality gear for rivers and canals only crops up now and again. Im not a believer in the most expensive is the best tackle, And will be the best for the job and catch more fish, But top end tackle always gives that extra bit of quality, And works out cheaper because it lasts longer.
